Introduction
Welcome to the Division of Psychology, a large and diverse organization
that offers graduate, internship, and postdoctoral clinical psychology
programs at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.
You will find complete information on this Web site if you plan to apply
for admission to one of our programs or just want to learn about
our research, training, and clinical offerings. Our doctoral program
has been ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top graduate
programs in clinical psychology in the nation.
Our American Psychological Association–approved PhD program is
offered on Northwestern's Chicago campus. This doctoral program
in clinical psychology, which is committed to the scientist-practitioner
model, is distinguished in two ways.
- First, we offer excellent training in the science of psychology
at a nationally prominent medical center. Our faculty and students
collaborate with physicians and basic scientists on research projects
in cardiovascular, cancer, a nd HIV risk reduction; mental health
services and policy; neuropsychology; chronic mental illness;
and other projects at the interface of the criminal justice and
mental health systems.
- Second, we continue to honor our tradition of excellence in
clinical training by insisting that our students aspire to a level
of clinical sophistication unmatched by most training programs.
An unusually dedicated team of faculty members offers supervision
in a variety of traditional psychiatric and innovative medical
settings.
A separate Northwestern University doctoral program in clinical
psychology is offered by the Department of Psychology of the Judd
A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences located on
the Evanston campus. The rules of the Graduate School state that
students may apply to only one program during any admissions period.
