Clinical Psychology Internship and Fellowships

The Division of Psychology of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Memorial Hospital cosponsor a two-year full-time training program in clinical psychology.

Candidates are admitted for the two-year period each year on July 1. The first year is a predoctoral internship in clinical psychology that concentrates on skill development in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, and effective treatment of a broad range of psychopathology. The second year is a postdoctoral fellowship that builds on the foundation of general clinical psychology skills developed in the internship year.

The goals of this combined two-year program are

  • To provide excellent generalist training for predoctoral interns
  • To integrate the broad-based internship training with specialized postdoctoral clinical skills
  • To develop the clinical and research skills necessary for a career in academic health care

An alternative postdoctoral fellowship program in clinical neurospsycology is supported by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center of the Feinberg School.
